Angus Gillis train on child health and nutrition. Some of the themes in their training are: cleanliness, eating balanced meals containing all food groups, children’s hygiene and food gardens. They also promote home visits and regular health check-ups for children such as de-worming, immunisation and weighing.
Siyakwazi specialise on early childhood development for children with special educational needs. During their training ECD practitioners are equipped to identify children with special needs and to guide parents on how to access services for these children. Siyakwazi provide resources to the ECD sites that aid children with special needs to communicate and engage with the world around them.
I learnt how to identify and assist a special needs child.
I have one in my crèche and cannot wait to apply everything I learnt through the special needs training.

An important component of this programme is the long term commitment by NAG to facilitate ongoing support for the ECD sites in implementing the training. This is achieved through 1) the use of future leaders who have been trained specifically on monitoring the training and 2) ongoing contact with the training providers.
